Running in Montgomery County

A little over a year ago, I picked up running as a hobby.  It's been a source of comfort, motivation, and achievement in my life.  During my short few years in the Montgomery area, my favorite place to run has been the Walden neighborhood on Lake Conroe.  There is a sidewalk that runs through the 3 mile long peninsula that is perfect for a good run.

At times I felt like I was on a movie set while running in Walden because there are so many families that live there and walk their pets, ride their bikes or golf carts, and many of them use biking or walking as a form of school transportation.  It has a family-oriented feel and that makes you feel safe.

As I go for longer runs, I've needed to find a place a bit longer than a 3 mile length and so I continued my search for the perfect place to run.  Recently I've been heading down to The Woodlands on the weekends to run on the trails there and my search was over.  The Woodlands trails offer 160 miles of pathway specifically for runners and bikers. Most of the trails are nestled in brush and hovering trees making it a perfect escape from reality for as many miles as you like.  The trails wind through quiet subdivisions, parks, around the lake, and all through The Woodlands.  So if you're looking for the perfect place to stretch your legs in the area, I highly recommend The Woodlands trails...maybe I'll see you there!
